CEHHS Highlights Our Alumnus

by Colleen Pergis

CSUSM fostered my creativity, leadership, and flexibility, and choosing to be a Human Development major was the best choice for my career. I knew I wanted to work with children in the applied setting so majoring in human development helped me to build solid foundations and to strengthen my skills for success in any human service setting.

After I graduated from CSUSM, I interned at a couple of places for a few months until I found a career path towards Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). I was hired as a part-time ABA therapist working with children on the autism spectrum.  In addition, I also work for Oceanside Unified School District as a full-time Intensive Behavioral Intervention Instructional Aide. Soon I’ll be attending National University to obtain my Masters in Human Behavior and become a Board Certified Behavioral Analyst (BCBA) clinical supervisor. Once I complete the BCBA, I plan to complete a Ph.D. in Applied Behavior Analysis.

I’m so proud to be a CSUSM alum and I feel so lucky. – Colleen Pergis
