On November 21st, double-major student Stacey Nones hosted an interdisciplinary workshop for nursing and kinesiology students to collaborate and share injury prevention practices for nurses and other health care workers.
The workshops provided learning opportunities for both groups of students that were focused on different physical challenges in nursing and self-care methods. Kinesiology students used their client-serving skills in observing and correcting body mechanics, while nursing students demonstrated the various challenges they face in the clinic.
The event was a success and both departments are hoping to repeat the experience in future semesters. – Sheri Biro RN, MSN, PHN
