Dr. Deborah Morton is accustomed to receiving quizzical looks when she tells people she’s an epidemiologist.
“You tell them what you do, and they’ll say, ‘Oh, are you a skin doctor?’ ” Morton said with a laugh.
The coronavirus epidemic, however, has thrust epidemiology – the study of the incidence, distribution and control of disease in a population – to the forefront of scientific disciplines across the globe and even made temporary celebrities out of some of its practitioners. Read more…
